Generally speaking with dual bios cards.
Sapphire rx 580 bios switch.
I recently got the rx 580 sapphire nitro se there is a bios switch in the back and online it says there is a gaming and a silent mode.
Users are able to switch between two modes quiet and performance the first one has a lower clock rate and allows to optimize the fan curve settings.
Image i have a sapphire nitro rx 570 i have a switch button on it its written bios switch waths for.
I tried both but the frequency didn t change.
Sadly i switched it while handling the card and now i don t know which position is which.
Is the performance switch the one closer to the hdmi port.
Those two separate chips regulate every card s key parameters like fan curve and clock speeds.
I didn t know there were any midrange cards that had it.
Default position is stock it has slightly lower clocks and more conservative fan curves while the second bios usually allows the card to have more juice.
Speaking of visual aspects the most obvious difference in comparison with the nitro rx 480 is the rx 580 s unique design with a gunmetal gray shroud that looks incredibly good.
The switch only changes the bios.
